a plothole filler

I didn't post this over here when I wrote it because I didn't like it then. [livejournal.com profile] gundamkiwi has been busy archiving plotholes on [livejournal.com profile] ppc_plotholes for those of us who didn't so it ourselves. Lo and behold one I wrote pops up. My immediate reaction was "...I wrote that? when?", but then I reread it and decided I liked it well enough to share on my regular journal. Apologies to those who have already gotten it through the community.

Skatekate is taken hostage bi one presumed dead.will she survive?or surcum to her tedius fate.CHAP12 NOW UP:Sam's is seriously hurt.kate is accused of something she didnt do by someone she deeply trusted, and cannot get that person to see the truth of the

"It's not fair!" Boone was saying as he paced back and forth in front of Skatekate. "Why did I have to be the one who got crushed to death? I had all sorts of mysterious and angsty backstory to reveal still!"

"Like?" drawled Skatekate, raising an eyebrow.

"Like...uhmm," Boone had to stop and think about this. It was the first time in an hour he had actually recieved a reply from his captive, and having to come up with a coherent response rather than continue monologing was unexpected, to say the least. Skatekate tugged listlessly at the ropes that held her as he pondered her question.

"Well, there was that time that I fell out of a tree when I was little," he finally said, looking at her with woeful eyes.

"I got scraped up pretty badly."

"Pfft," replied Skatekate, rolling her eyes. Even she, as a background survivor suddenly labeled with a typo-ridden name knew that flashbacks had to be more convoluted and violently upsetting than that. She wondered if he planned to untie her any time soon, or at least give her some water. If he happened to wander off in the midst of his ravings and forget she was here...the jungle was not a good place to spend the night even under the best of circumstances. Even if the boars, polar bears, or resident monster didn't get her, she would eventually surcum to dehydration.

Wait, wasn't the word succumb? Surcum...succumb...surcum...succumb...her brow wrinkled as she sounded each out in her head, both versions sounding less and less correct at each iteration. Boone was talking again, but she paid him no mind.

Dehydration aside, another thing she had to worry about surcuming...succumbing...one of those...to was brain spasms from the sheer boredom of having to listen to the guy. He really was tedious.

Meanwhile, at the beach, Kate was tending to CHAP12 NOW UP:Sam's, whose ankle was swollen and purple, as well as in a splint. CHAP12 NOW UP:Sam's groaned, shading his eyes with his hand.

"Hold still," commanded Kate unecessarily, giving him some water. "Jack said you have to keep your weight off that foot until it heals."

"Doesn't mean I have to sit out here in the sun," he grumbled, pushing her away and pulling himself into the shade. "What kind of doctor's assistant are you, anyway?"

"Uhm," said Kate, her mind wandering. Just then, Hurley walked up.

"Dude, did you steal my CD player?" he asked, squinting at Kate. She stared back at him blankly.

"Nooooo," she said slowly, realizing that an answer was required of her. "Why?"

"You were the last one near my stuff, and now it's gone," he replied, looking sad. "I mean, I guess it doesn't really matter because I didn't have any batteries, but it still isn't cool."

"I didn't take it, Hurley," insisted Kate. "Sawyer probably did."

"Aww," replied Hurley, staring at the ground. They remained in silence for a few minutes.

"I found a the," offered Kate suddenly, brightening.

"A what?" asked Hurley.

"A the," repeated Kate, fishing around in her bag. "I found it."

She pulled out a twig, which she showed to him quite proudly.

"Dude, that's a twig," said Hurley.

"No, it's a the," frowned Kate. "Can't you see that?"

"Um...no," admitted Hurley. Kate stuck the twig back in her bag huffily.

"It is, Hurley."

"...Whatever."
